If you change it, there will be no reason to delete it. See Change your Apple ID https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667

And see What to do after you change your Apple ID or

Password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204071 (supplementary to what the fist link says)

Post back if you have questions about what you can do if your Apple ID (1) is a third-party apple ID or (2) ends in icloud.com, me.com, or mac.com.

And FYI, see  iCloud: About your @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201771

______________

If you do this, then you can delete it. See How to create a new Apple ID https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204316.

Note that you can deactivate or delete an Apple ID account. Apple recommends doing the first for the obvious difference noted below.

How to deactivate your Apple ID account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208503

If you request account deactivation, you'll receive a unique alphanumeric access code. When you're ready to reactivate your Apple ID, contact Apple Support, provide your access code, and we’ll help you reactivate your account. If you lose this code, we won't be able to help reactivate your account."

How to Delete your Apple ID Account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208504

“While your request is being processed, you can contact Apple Support with the unique alphanumeric access code you received, and we’ll help you cancel your request. After your account is deleted, Apple can't cancel the request, reopen your account, or restore your data.”

But I want to delete the old email. The apple ID is the only reason thst wmail account still exists. Well that and somewhere for folks to send their Spam and Phishing emails. My question is, After I put another email as my Apple ID can I delete the old account without it messing with my ITunes? I don’t meed to loose hundreds of dollars of purchased music. Thanks.
