how do i transfer conacts from iphone to another

Hi there,

I have 2 separate issues which relate to the same iphone. First one is when i had setup my iphone i must have used the same back up for my wife's iphone because when ever i have made a call it is displayed on my wife's iphone and vise versa, along with any new or existing contacts i have entered on the iphone is also displayed

second issue is the battery has swollen and cracked my screen so i can not unlock my iphone . I have an iphone that has been handed down to me however i need the info or at least the contacts from the broken iphone without restoring the new iphone .

Any help will be apreciated

The contacts may be grayed out because the phone is off/damaged. Have you tried syncing with iCloud to see if the contacts are there? Do you have a back up of the phone or your wife's phone you can restore. Since you are both using the same Apple ID, that may recover the contacts.

For the first issue, are you and your wife using the same Apple ID? If so, Apple IDs aren't meant to be shared. That is why your data is syncing to each others device.

Do you have a backup of your phone you can restore? If you were syncing with iCloud, have you signed into Settings/Your Name/iCloud, turned Contacts and other desired syncing on?

Hi Eric, yes both iphones are on the same apple id as i thought it meant that you keep all your devices together under one account.

As for the backup i have sign in to my apple id and just gone in and found my old iphone and it has the contacts greyed out. does that mean i can not retrieve my contacts or that the contacts aren't saved?

Sure i can try that again however when i opened itunes and tried to back up the new iphone itune sasked to back up and update and then rejected the process. Could there be an issue with itunes or possibly the iphone.
