Why keep the mbp charged will have higher risk of swollen?

Hi there,

I've been doing some research about battery recently.

If we leave the mbp/laptop/cellphone always charged to power, why this is not good and have a higher risk of turning the battery into a swollen one? Wouldn't the mbp/cellphone stop charging once it's 100% and the power adapter only supplies running the machine without charging?

Three micro-controllers cooperate to allow your computer, battery and power adapter to keep the battery charged, but NEVER over-charged. There is no risk of over-charging.

However, that last few percentage points may be ever-so-slightly more destructive to battery longevity than the previous few percentage points. With battery health management active, it may trade maximum battery charge level for longer battery life overall.

The effects being addressed with this feature are fairly subtle. In general, when AC power is available, connect the power adapter. When no AC power is available, use your MacBook Pro on battery, with the understanding it WILL be slower due to less power available. In all cases, do not anguish over battery usage or battery life.

Any person who told you that was expressing their OWN opinion, NOT the opinion Of Apple, Inc.

Apple articles suggest that the enemy is storage at less than half-charged, and storage in excessive heat, such as in a hot car.

There is no risk of over-charging the battery when using Apple Power adapters, and it will run faster and better when you connect the power adapter.

Ok. So anyway, there's no way we can over charge an MacBook Pro no matter it's a 2019 model or it's a 2015 model, so we can leave it plugged with power adapter always?

Although the Apple Store Genius told me don't leave it plugged with power adapter though.

How many times do I and others have to tell you? Neither your battery nor your computer will be damaged by leaving it plugged in. If your battery is swollen, stop using the computer. Take the computer to an authorized service center for evaluation.
