I recently downloaded WhatsApp but then deleted it. I have gone to re-install it however when I go to the app store it says 'open' as if the app is still installed. When I click open nothing actually happens.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. As we understand, you deleted WhatsApp, but the App Store won't let you redownload the app and instead behaves like it is already installed.
Have you used Search to look for WhatsApp on your device? Is it possible it is hidden in a folder? Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Did you restart your iPhone after deleting the app? Restart your iPhone
