External Ultrawide Display Issues (Black Bars)

Hi guys. Just received a new LG 29UB67 Ultrawide monitor, connected to MB Pro 2019 (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645) via new USB-C to Displayport cable. The resolution is set to 2560 x 1080 and set to extended display. My issue is that the monitor is not filling the screen, I have black bars inside the bezel approx 1 inch either side and 1/2 inch top and bottom. There is no over/underscan option in the LG menu.

Tried google, changed every setting, different cables and switchresx but can't make it work!

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello hopeforhelp43,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to get the video on your external LG display to show as expected, as you get an unexpected black bar around the external display. To help with this, please hold the Option key while you click Scaled for resolution for the LG display in System Preferences > Displays and see if you can get a resolution to fit better, and follow the rest of the relevant steps in these Apple resources, including testing in safe mode and resetting the SMC and NVRAM on your Mac:

Change your Mac display’s resolution

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

Cheers!
