Links to albums
When I started using A Music I could click album links in New Music and other regular weekly playlists but not now is this a bug? Is there a fix? Also can I update my music preferences?

Then restart your Mac, check that you have a good internet connection, and try using Apple Music as expected again:

If this doesn’t have any impact on the issue, try accessing from a new user account and see if the issue is resolved there:

To verify, did the issue occur in a new user account as well? This can help us determine if this is a system-wide issue or just something affecting your account.
If it does happen in a new user account, boot your Mac into safe mode and see if the issue occurs there:

If it doesn’t happen in a new user account, reinstall macOS and see if this helps at all. While reinstalling should retain your user files, it’s a good idea to make a backup first, just in case:
If this doesn’t help, tell us more about what happens when you click the albums links in your playlist.
As for your music preferences, there is no way to update those. As you listen to different artist and genres, Apple Music should identify your preferences over time.

My system is bang up to up to date, I've been using a Mac for over twenty years - I'm afraid this reply didn't really address either of the issues in my post.
Many thanks opening in the the safe option fixed the issue.
