quicktime player not responding sometimes.
So I'm trying to open a .mp4 file from a network drive. I just bought a new computer, it worked fine on my previous one, unless there were network issues with the NAS. If that is the case then I simply can't access the files. But my new computer can access the files and preview the videos by simply pressing the spacebar when they are selected. However, sometimes quicktime will open them and work fine, but sometimes quicktime simply will not respond. I can force quit then try again, but same deal, I get the spinning beach ball every time right when I open up Quicktime. I have the 2020 MBP 13". One thing I hope didn't mess everything up indefinitely was when I first set up the computer, I tried creating a new user to change the name of my home drive. I logged into the new user, changed the home drive name of that user, but when I logged back in with that user it hadn't changed the name but had instead made a new home drive with the name I changed. I did a factory reset of the computer. So I hope that didn't mess anything up but I would like to get Quicktime working. I checked the Library/Preferences folder for the .plist files but they seem not to exist. I think the file structure is different because the com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX is a folder. Can someone help? Is there an event log where I can get some more information about the unresponsiveness?
