My disk drive is full and I can’t delete anything

I am unable to delete certain documents and when I try the - osstatus error 34 pops up and says that I can’t move my files to the trash or even empty my trash

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Run Disk Utility and select First Aid to check your drive for corruption; all being well, Disk Utility will be able to fix it.
