Quicktime on my iMac running ElCapitan (MacOS v10.11.6) will not play *.mov files recorded on my iPhone11. It tries to 'convert' them for some reason and fails so the videos cannot be played. Help/insights appreciated.

Set the iPhone not to use HEVC or HEIF for movies and images if you want to watch them in old systems. Or convert those files to an older format, if necessary.
