Pages & Numbers documents disappeared

I bought a new MacBook Pro with the Catalina OS. I transferred my backup from the old MacBooK Pro (with High Sierra OS) to the new computer using Time Machine. My Pages and Numbers documents are gone, and the special slideshow I made for my husband’s 70th birthday is gone from Keychain. No files were shown on all three. Can anyone help me get those files back. They don’t show up on ICloud Drive, and it’s so frustrating to lose years’ worth of files that can’t be duplicated. 😭😭

If the files cannot be found for any backup timeframe on that Sierra Time Machine drive, then you are likely out of luck unless the files exist elsewhere (e.g. the Sierra Mac), or you sent them to someone, or they are on another drive. Apple only maintains a 30-day (sliding window) iCloud Drive restoration for deleted files.


I have known others that thought their Time Machine was consistently backing up for a period of months, only to eventually discover it wasn't because their Time Machine drive was full, or (temporarily) damaged due to a wrong ejection.
