No audio coming from Siri (iPhone Xs)

I went to use maps the other day and there was no audio coming from Siri. It still listens to “hey Siri” and will respond to questions normally, however there is no audio. (Audio works when I select a different speaker, but not beyond that screen)

I have tried several tactics to fix it including: turning volume up, flipping “hey Siri” off and on, flipping voice feedback between handset and always, unmuting the phone, connecting to my MacBook, resetting network connections, resetting all settings, and rebooting my phone several times. Basically everything just short of a factory reset.

Suggestions or fixes before I try a factory reset? For reference, I have an iPhone XS running 13.5.1.

Hello dusknitemaren ,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like Siri isn’t responding on your iPhone XS. We'd be happy to help.

To help with this, please make sure your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and to power.

Then, test with a different Siri voice, and switch back to the previous Siri voice and test again:

Change Siri voice or language - Apple Support

Leave the iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and power for at least an hour if the issue continues after that, then change the voice to another one and back again, testing to see if it's resolved.

Let us know if that helps.

Take care.
