Go into the settings, and accessibility. Then go to "touch", and turn off assistive touch. Then go to the very bottom of the page, and make sure the "confirm with assistive touch" is off. Then go back to accessibility, and open the "Face ID and attention". Turn on "Require attention for Face ID". You can go to the bottom, and turn on "Haptic on Successful Authentication" I use that, because it will play a little noise, and display a check mark when downloading apps and paying with apple pay, to show it was successful.

too turn this off you go to settings>accessibility>touch and at the very top there’s assistive touch click there then scroll all the way down and turn off “confirm with assistive touch” and something will pop up saying if you want to use the side button instead and you just confirm.
Go to settings then go to assessability, then look for AssistiveTouch press on that go to the bottom of the AssistiveTouch tab and turn off confirm with AssistiveTouch and then you should be good to go.
Go to settings> Accessibility> Assistive touch> at the bottom there is a toggle to us assistive touch for Apple Pay. turn that off. I had the same problem and that fixed it.

THIS IS IT!
Found this on Reddit.
You can get to the Confirm with Apple Pay button with the Device menu option.
To set it up, tie one of your AssistiveTouch Custom Actions to “Open Menu”, and make sure “Device” is one of your menu items.
Custom Actions (any) -> Open Menu -> Device
To make purchases, schlep to “Apple Pay” when prompted.
Device -> More -> Apple Pay -> Confirm Apple Pay
The Confirm Apple Pay option will show up when you’re in a double-click-side-button situation. Otherwise, the Device menu lets you open Wallet.
The shortcut named Apple Pay only opens Wallet.
I found that I had to follw Rajeep's advice (turn off the Assistive Touch step)
first, and then follow these side button steps here.
Those two, in that order, was the only true fix for me.
Cheers!
Go to:
Settings ➡️Accessibility ➡️Touch➡️AssistiveTouch➡️Confirm with Assistive Touch➡️OFF
THEN
Settings ➡️Accessibility➡️Side Button➡️Enable Confirm with Switch Control
THEN
Settings ➡️Accessibility➡️Side Button Confirmation➡️OFF
Here’s what you do:
go to assistive touch and scroll to the bottom. Once you do you see something that says: confirm with assistive touch , turn that off. Then boom done
Settings>Accessibility>
Touch
At too of screen, turn off
“AssistiveTouch.”
At bottom of screen,
turn off
“Confirm with AssistiveTouch.”
Settings>Accessibility>
Touch

At bottom of screen,
turn off
“Confirm with AssistiveTouch.”
I’VE FOUND THE SOLUTION
Step 1: Go to settings and on the search bar, type in ‘Side Button’
Step 2: Press the option at the top- it will say ‘Side button➡️Accessibility’
Step 3: Higlighted blue, it will say ‘enable AssistiveTouch’ Press it and it will take you to another setting,
Step 4: At the very bottom of that page it will say confirm with assistive touch- press that button so that it isn’t green anymore and your problem will be solved.
Thanks VERY much.
I can't sufficiently express how much I despise this "feature."
