PC Cannot connect to Home Sharing Apple 4K TV

I recently bought a new PC computer to improve upon the PC laptop I had been using, and both use Windows 10 Pro. My Apple 4K TV connected to my laptop's iTunes for Home Sharing easily. However, for the life of me, I cannot get it to work with my new PC. I copied my library over to the new PC, as well as its library settings, so I'm not sure if that's a problem, but I've tried these troubleshooting techniques:

  1. Turn on Home Sharing on both the new computer and Apple TV 4K
  2. Connect to the same wireless network (there are wireless extender channels on the same router, but I made sure they were connected to the same exact network)
  3. Reboot the router
  4. Reboot the computer
  5. Reboot the Apple TV 4K
  6. Log Out of my account on the PC
  7. Log Out of my account on the Apple TV 4K
  8. Re-login to both
  9. Make sure PC's iTunes is Authorized
  10. Reboot everything
  11. Try the Laptop's Library to see if it shares with Apple TV 4K. It does. Deauthorize the laptop and close iTunes. (Apple TV 4K still doesn't see new computer's iTunes Library)
  12. Check firewall to see if it allows iTunes
  13. Run iTunes diagnostic which says it Firewall allows iTunes through
  14. Turn off Firewall and try Apple TV 4K Home Sharing again.

I'm really at a loss here. :( Thoughts, anyone?

SOLVED!! --- I was having issues with putting music on my phone today as iTunes kept freezing up on "waiting to copy files" and a couple different stages. So I uninstalled it, did a web search for a direct download of iTunes for Windows (not from the Microsoft Store), and installed that. I rebooted, relogged in to iTunes, turned Home Sharing off and on and then tried Apple TV 4K's Home Sharing folder again... eureka! It showed up.

Bottom line? DO NOT download iTunes from the Microsoft store. :(

Thanks for attempting to help guys! And even though I sprung for a whole new mesh network, I think I'll be much, much better off with having that in my house than not. Silver lining, I suppose.

  • On your PC disconnect Home Sharing in iTunes
  • Quit iTunes
  • Restart iTunes and re-login into Home Sharing
  • Unplug the Apple TV for 1-2 minutes
  • Restart Apple TV
  • Re-Attempt your library.

NOTE: It is critical that both the Apple TV and the PC are on the same network. I'm assuming that if you setup your Mesh Network that you have re-set up your Apple TV to be on the same network and that Home Sharing is setup on the Apple TV correctly.

I think there's gotta be something conflicting here. Before I setup this new wireless network at home, I found that my itunes library on my PC laptop (which I stopped using in favor of a new desktop) was being seen by my Apple TV 4K with no problems. I migrated my iTunes library over to the new computer and now it won't show up.

The only thing I think is odd about the new PC and Windows 10, is I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've been forced to install iTunes from the Windows app store. Even Apple's website pushes people to install it from the Windows store. However they're installing iTunes on Windows 10 now, it doesn't seem to even install it in the same location on your computer as it used to. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. But I've seen some solutions that suggest messing with file locations and such, but I can't even find the application folder on this computer.

My other concern is that, because I copied the library file over from the laptop to this desktop, there might be something funky with that? But I've done it before from computer to computer and I've still been able to do Home Sharing. So I just don't know. :(
