Tracking through IMEI - No. There is no chance. Try and make a police report and notify your carrier that you have lost your iPhone so that they can blacklist it. Do not remove it from your Apple ID so that no one can use it (Activation Lock will remain on that iPhone).

To locate it in the Find My [Device] app, you must have activated the Find My app BEFORE the iPhone X was lost. Here is some information on that app ➔ If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support.

Note that your lost iPhone must be able to make the connection to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular connection so that it can mark its location and broadcast it.

OK. I understand you now. I do not know of a way to find the MAC address of an iPhone by inputting the IMEI number. Does your work place keep a log of connected MAC Addresses and devices? Worth asking.
