FCPX Import issue

I just upgraded to OS Catalina and now when I try to import footage from an SD card FCPX recognizes the card in the import window but there is no footage showing to import. The footage plays in quicktime and I can put the footage onto a folder on the desktop and import that way, but I like importing directly from the card. Help please.
