Too many flights!

On June 20, my watch started DRASTICALLY over counting flights. I might have an average of 3-4 per day and as of 2PM today I’m at 128. I don’t know if this date coincides with a software update or what. Is anyone else seeing this problem in the same timeframe? I’ve seen replies to similar, but older, posts that contain a link to some troubleshooting steps but none of them have worked for me.

Hello dfrobinson,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We understand there are issues with a discrepancy in flights recorded. We'll do what we can to help.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Check the flights of stairs on the paired iPhone to see if they match what is being reported from the Apple Watch: Health app > Browse > Activity > Flights Climbed > Show All Data > Date of Flights.
  • Verify where these flights are occurring. If they occur in the same area, it might expected if there are large elevation shifts.
  • Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

If you still see the same thing or these steps were already taken, reach out to Apple Support directly: Get Support

Enjoy.
