USB-C to USB adapter
Hello,
I have the USB-C to USB adapter cable for my 2020 MacBook Air. But my usb's can't fit into the adapter. Why is this? And what usb's/type of usb's would be best to use with this cable?
Thank you

I don't blame you for wanting to avoid too much force. Since you tried at least two USB-A type connectors and you can't make them fit without using excessive force, perhaps the adapter is mechanically defective. I'd contact Apple and request a replacement.
If the USB flash drives require excessive force to insert, removing them might require even more force. You might break one or the other or both.
That adapter should work.
If you feel a lot of force is required, make sure the USB drive you are using is being plugged in the correct way in. It will only go in one way.
Requiring too much force could point to the drive connector being flipped around.
Turn them around?
If you bought this one and your USB cables do not fit then contact Apple: USB-C to USB Adapter
You should be able to connect devices that use male USB type-A connectors with this adapter.
What adapter exactly are you referring to?
What USB's can't fit? Why can;t they?
You need explain what is happening, what adapters or other devices you have and what the issue is exactly in as much detail as possible. Photos of the offending devices and adapters would also help.
Hi there, so the adapter that im talking about is Apple's USB-C to USB adapter cable. Ive tried connecting a couple of usb flash drives, including Verbatim and Lexar flashdrives. However they wont connect with the USB end of the cable. The only thought is that you would have to really force the flashdrive in, but im a bit hesitent about braking it.
Hi John,
Yes, the adapter being defective could possibly be the reason. I'll definitely be contacting Apple.
I dont want to break my usb drives, so i wont apply force.
Thank you so much for your help :)
Hello, thank you for your reply. :)
Thank you Tesserax :)
Exactly, this adapter should work. I do ensure i have usb drive the right way around but it just wont insert. I guess ill have to contact Apple directly. Thank you so much for your help :)
You're welcome. I doubt you're doing anything wrong. It's not supposed to be this difficult.
Yeah, your right. Thank you
Hi,
I think you can connect USB Flash drive to USB connector of USB-C to USB adapter even if Flash drive is USB2.0 or 3.0.
