Dolby Vision Elevated Black Levels With LG OLED TV’s

Hello, is there a fix in the works for this? The Apple TV is my favorite streaming device but it has elevated blacks when playing back Dolby Vision content. I know it happens to pretty much all LG OLED’s, other streaming devices don’t have this same problem so I am thinking it’s an issue with the ATV. It’s hard to spot in a lit room but can be pretty easy sometimes in a dark room. Does any one have any insight to this? Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple community.

Have you tried updating the firmware on your TV set yet, this is I known issue with the display not the Apple TV.

Hello, I have the latest Firmware on my C9 OLED. It does seem to be an Apple TV issue in the 2019 LG OLED’s and earlier as no other devices (built in apps, Fire TV, Shield) have the issue. T

The 2020 LG OLED’s have problems with the built in apps as well as others and are definitely seeing it on more than just the ATV.

I gotcha, the article is 2 years old but I suppose it could be saying that the TV still needs to wait for the update (just thought something would have hit by now). The article did say it didn’t know how long it would take. I only thought it was the Apple TV because it’s the only Dolby Vision device currently with the problem on the 2019 and earlier LG OLED TV’s. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. Thanks for your help.
