some messages missing from icloud backup

The screen on my old iphone was broken and i replaced it with a new phone. I restored my data from the last icloud backup, which occurred before the old phone screen broke. I received some messages between the time the screen broke (could still see that they were being received on the broken screen) and the time I restored data to the new phone, but I cannot see those messages that were received after the last backup on the new phone. Is there a way to access those messages?
