start up my iMac causes cache to start loading and it keeps loading. after an hour or so I have to empty 5 thousand items to allow me to be able to watch Netflix without constant interruption. I clear both caches and It all begins again.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

What cache are you referring to and where exactly do you see what you witnessing?
