System not calculating storage

When I access storage manager launched from the "About This Mac" , the system options at the bottom of the menu seems to be stuck... as the indicator is like spinning forever. It was opening until yesterday and has been fluctuating over the past week between 46 and 26gb and it was always about 12gb. Now it doesn't calculate at all.

I accidentally deleted the Dropbox folder in Public yesterday and have posted a question about restoring it. Could this be why the System doesn't calculate?

I also had the iMac freeze as I was deleting a folder from time machine I no longer wanted. I've done that successfully before but this time it froze. I rebooted and time machine is fine.

Thanks

LW

This Drop Box folder is unrelated to this issue.

Do not delete Time Machine files/folders from the Finder— this can easily corrupt the database.

TM is a backup, it manages itself.

TM interaction should happen through the TM interface:

Hi Thank you for your reply to both my questions. I only ever delete through time machine as per your screenshot above (enter time machine) never via Finder.

The stage manager now stops spinning for a brief moment shows stage of 17GB and then starts spinning again.

Everything on my computer and Time machine is worked perfectly so I'm now sure what can be causing this.

Thanks
