I have an Apple ID that has mixed in with my old Apple ID that I no longer have access to as it was a school email. All my photos have somehow gone into that iCloud. I’m just trying to get them all into my new phone with my Apple ID.

You should still be able to access your old Apple ID using your old email, even if the email no longer exists. Once you have access to your photos, you should download them and import them to the Photos app in association with your new Apple ID.
