Home button not working and screen only partially responsive

My ipad 2 home button has stopped responding. When pressed it doesn't switch the screen on. The initial screen comes on with the side switch and with the magnet. Then I can enter my code. However, the only way to access any apps is through siri, the screen does not respond at all. the slide to power off does not respond either. The ipad is still under warranty, but I want to make sure I try troubleshooting first. Can anybody help? Thank you.
