typing problems and maybe a malware on my iMac

I have a problem with my keyboard.... When I’m typing, my keyboard types strange things as a extra... Like I want to say: Hello, my keyboard will say: hn =/elo9lo. I was just using my keyboard for that... The strangest part is that my keyboard sometimes reacts correctly... Like now... I really don’t understand what the problem is of my keyboard....

Furthermore, a lot of apps on my iMac don’t react all of the sudden... And the thing that makes my also crazy is the fact that my Mac crashes sometimes for no reason... I thought that a Mac is not likely to crash when we compare it to other computers like HP or Acer... I checked my Mac several times with a lot of virus scanners, but nothing had found a virus... Could there be a malware on my Mac that a professional virus scanner can’t even detect? Just to let you know: I use Avast, Bitdefender, 360 security and Clean My Mac X... I have only paid for Avast Omni, the rest are only the free version...

The reason why I think there could probably be a malware on my Mac: In the past, I restored the fabric settings once on my Mac because there was a real malware on my Mac that Avast couldn’t detect... The malware sent my to strange browsers and downloaded strange apps that I didn’t downloaded at all... After restoring, my Mac reacted in the beginning quite fast, but after a while, it lost it’s speed... Is it smart to restore the fabric settings again on my iMac?

Two Thoughts:

  • Misacting Keyboard:

Reset the SMC and your NVRAM:

Sometimes when changes are made to the system(i.e. updates), system configurations (i.e. for Keyboard) become manipulated, technically. So, reset the SMC and NVRAM. Your hard drive may not be being read promptly, so resetting these, all of the ports would be configured to how they should be.

  • As for Malware:

Malwarebytes for Mac:

Malwarebytes searches for malware (short for (malicious software) and spyware. It is created by longtime users of these forums making it the only reliable Security Software for a Mac. So, scan with it and remove what is found, from the quarantine.

Downloads:

  1. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac
  2. Malwarebytes Uninstaller

It may be best to reset your Mac to factory settings and to create a backup of the data you currently have on it. Although the chances of getting malware on your Mac are lower than to other pc's there are still chances that your Mac could have it. So when you reset your Mac to factory settings it will remove everything that is on the Mac including malware and the only thing that will be left is the software (Mac OS Catalina) that is directly form apple which will already be on your Mac, and you should be good to go. Also make sure to update your Mac too.

Scanning For Malware:

View my Above Reply: Reset the SMC and the NVRAM for the misacting keyboard - and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac to check for malware.

"typing problems and maybe a malware on my iMac: I want to say that malwarebytes accomplished to find a malware... incredible!!! I’m now wondering why malwarebytes is better than all the other virusscanners on the Mac... The malware calls PUP.Shared.IOBit... Do you know that type of malware?

An AppleScript Created-Program:

Searching for it, I find nothing of it on a search engine.

Google Search Queue: “PUP.Shared.IOBit”

It is an unwanted program that is just going to get in the way and is useless.

Perhaps one that you or someone created using AppleScript. A typical Security Software program wouldn’t look for an AppleScript app.

So, be sure you remove it from the quarantine too.

Security Software Gets in the Way on a Mac:

You will notice Avast getting in the way when accessing certain sites on the apple.com domain. Also, Firewall settings sometimes don't allow certain sites to go through. So, uninstall it, as it just gets in the way. User Preferences in it may have its own settings for keyboard shortcuts. And Privacy Settings may not allow video to play, nor email to go through. You won't find viruses on a Mac.

But there could be a chance that this malware (I even don’t know whether there is a malware on my iMac) will survive after restoring the fabric settings, because I already did that a year ago... After restoring, I immediately put a virusscanner (Avast) on my iMac and I thought that I was from then safe for malware and other threads. I really don’t know how this malware (It’s still not proved) could ever have entered my iMac...

Thanks a lot! You all really helped me out those problems!

The next problem that I have is this strange bar... It shows two icons invisible to me...

Furthermore, I think that my keyboard needs a repair... I tested my keyboard with my iPad and those strange features of my keyboard could be seen again... Sometimes a letter doesn't even appear on the screen even though I tapped the letter on the keyboard...

Emblem on Taskbar:

Hovering your cursor over the emblem to the far-left, what pops up (no no need to click on it, I think). As for the space - there’s probably room for two more emblems, yet to-be-used.
