Digital Signature pdf using Acrobat 10.1.14, can't sign document

I used to be able to digitally sign pdf documents but now this option isn't available. When I go to "Tools" > "Place Signature" it's greyed out. I also can no longer edit text.

I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mojave. Using Acrobat Pro 10.1.14. Can I still sign documents without buying Acrobat's $14 monthly paid subscription?

I did an update but am not running the new Acrobat DC paid subscription.

Hope you can help. Thank you.

Generally, I find that the PDF Editors that are most recommended here are PDF Expert, and PDFpen from the Mac App Store, and I tend to mention Master PDF Editor that is in the same price category. Visit the respective vendor sites for supported features, and limited trials — limited because not all features may be enabled in the trial.

Always read the fine print in the Mac App Store. PDFelement 7 by Wondershare is free to download, but is actually subscription-ware ($30 quarterly, $80 annually, or $120 - $160 single purchase). That makes the cost of the other mentioned PDF Editors in the first paragraph quite affordable.

If you are referring to what Adobe named Acrobat Pro X, then Adobe's System Requirements stop at Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Acrobat Pro XI was supported though El Capitan (10.11.6), and the current Acrobat Pro DC (v20) is intended for Sierra (10.12) thru Catalina (10.15.*).

It is very possible that your older Acrobat Pro has run into compatibility issues with Mojave that neither Adobe, nor Apple are going to fix. That may leave you with a subscription solution, or one of the other (non-subscription) PDF Editors that are available in the Mac App Store, or without (e.g. Master PDF Editor).

Thank you and looks like a good program, issue is the cost: $69. Good thing is you set me on the path of looking for an alternative that would allow me to sign documents. Do you have any insights into PDFelement - PDF Editor from Wondershare Technology Group Co.,LTD? Is it safe to download? It's free. Unfortunately I just realized this is free for iPhone. Not sure yet if it applies to the Mac.
