Canon 50d & iMac Connectivity issues

Recently saw posts of people having issues with their Canon50d or older cameras not popping up on Macs once they're connected. Simply open the native apple 'photos' app, and the camera should appear on there. Use the PHOTOS app to upload your pictures. Hope this helps!

iMac (Retina 5k, 27 inch, 2019) Catalina 10.15.7 doesn't recognise canon 5D mkii (tethering & photo import) Up until this morning I was able to both tether my camera(EOS Utility) and import photos (Lightroom) half way through my tethered shoot the tethering stopped working (stating busy) upon trying to reconnect I found that the Canon did not appear to be connected at all, either in EOS Utility, Lightroom or Finder. I was using EOS Utility 2 after the issues updated to 3, Lightroom Classic v9.4 again after issues updated to v10 The updates have made no difference. I have also bought a new cable in case this was the issue. No change. Still can't see the Canon. No program recognises my Canon 5D MKii camera. Which makes me think it is either the camera or the Mac. The camera firmware is updated as it can be. I have bought a card reader to import the photos (and done so successfully) But I will need to do tethered shoots in future and would like to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Kat

Digital camera photos suddenly not recognized on Mac products I have a Kodak Z950 EasyShare camera that I have been able to connect and transfer photos from for years (using USB). The computers I've transferred the photos to are a 2011 iMac, and a 2020 MacBook Pro. I transferred photos to both computers as recently as last week. Now, when I hook up the camera, the computers DO recognize the camera, but they either don't recognize the photos at all (zero available to transfer), or they are deemed an "unrecognizable format." I have a feeling that the problem must be somehow with the camera, not the computers, but thought I would check here first. (I had to choose a topic to submit this, so I chose Photos for Mac, but on the old iMac, it's actually iPhoto.) Thanks!

Alternatively, to access raw files, use image capture.
