Milanese loop band magnet problem

I have a 2.5 year old Series 2 watch with the Milanese loop band. I’ve just noticed that the edge of the metal strip that covers the magnet seems to be in the process of detaching. For $150 I expected this to be a durable, long-lasting band. Anyone have a suggestion? Should this be a warranty issue? I never swim with the watch. I wear it all the time, including when working in the yard. It sits in its charger every night while I sleep. I have probably washed the band with mild hand soap maybe 4-5 times and dried it immediately. It does seem to require tightening more often lately, but I don’t think that is associated with my problem.(?) Thanks!
