iCloud driver folder shortcut

Good morning. I am a relatively new user of a Mac PC. Currently I use an iPhone 11 and latest mini iPad. On those two I can see the iCloud Drive folder then when I click the folder I see the folders contains the spreadsheets or documents I have created. I click on the file then close it and the update appears on both iPhone and iPad.

where is the iCloud file folder on the PC Mac or how can I create a folder on the Mac to access these other folders? I did create a short cut to a spreadsheet which is in the home screen of the Mac but if I work on that it does not update on the iPhone or iPad

Thanks
