How to push a document in icloud drive documents folder to icloud after reconnecting Mac to wi-fi

I have been working on a document on my Macbook Air 2018 while wi-fi is off. Previously, when wi-fi was on, I chose to have all my documents in my document folder to be on icloud. The trouble I'm experiencing is, when I reconnect my Macbook Air to wi-fi, the changed document (changed while offline) is not being propagated to icloud. When I look at the document on my iPhone, for example, the document is not the changed version saved on my Macbook Air. How do I push the changed document to my icloud drive?

I solved the problem by signing out on my iPhone and signing in on my iPhone. The changed document was being automatically saved in iCloud when I reconnected my Mac to wifi. What was causing my issue described in my question was my iPhone not syncing to the current docs and folders in iCloud. Signing out and signing in on my iPhone solved that issue.
