iPhone camera always on

My phone camera has been always on in the background since July 1st. I checked to see if this was an app that I downloaded but I did not download any new apps that day. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be

iPhone XR, iOS 13

Hello Hwildes15,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities! It appears that Camera on your iPhone is using a higher than expected amount of background activity, causing your iPhone battery to drain. You're in the right place to find a resolution.

To help further isolate potential causes, let's start by taking a look at apps that have access to your camera by going to Settings > Privacy > Camera. Do any of the apps that are granted camera access on this screen show they are using more background activity than on screen time under Settings > Battery?

If so, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn this feature off for those apps. Test if there's an improvement in battery life and background activity for Camera over the next 24 hours. Keep us posted on the results.

Cheers!
