Lost activity data when pairing with new phone

When pairing my old watch with with a new phone, all of my activity data was lost, even though I set up my new phone with a back-up from my old phone that had all the data. How do I get my activity history back?

NewPhone11Pro,

Thanks for getting back to us and for verifying that information.

To be sure a successful backup of the Activity data on your Apple Watch was stored in iCloud, the Apple Watch needed to be paired to the previously used iPhone. Then, it needed to be unpaired. Doing so, would have created a backup of the Activity data from the Apple Watch to iCloud. That information is outlined in step seven in the section of this article that says, "Disconnect your devices": Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

Once the Apple Watch was unpaired to the older iPhone, you'll want to go through the pairing process to the new iPhone. This will provide you the option to restore the most recent backup of your Apple watch to be recovered. Here's an article with that information: How to pair your Apple Watch with a new iPhone

If these steps were followed, but you're still missing the data from the Activity app, I suggest contacting Apple Support to review this further. You can contact them through this link here: Get Support

Best regards.

Hi NewPhone11Pro,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're missing Activity data, after pairing your Apple Watch to a new iPhone. We'll be happy to help.

We recommend to see if the Activity data is displaying a progress bar, indicating that it is restoring your data from iCloud. To verify that, you can open the Activity app on your iPhone, tap on History and see if, "Restoring Activity data from iCloud" appears.

In addition, you'll want to see if, "Health" is turned on for iCloud. On your iPhone, please go to Settings > your name at the top > iCloud > Health.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards.

So I set up the new phone from a back-up I had stored on my computer instead of the cloud. After reading your response, I backed up my old phone to the cloud and am now hoping you can guide me because when I open the activity app on the new phone, there is nothing that says refresh or get iCloud backup, so it’s just still blank. Also, when choosing the apps to backup, Activity wasn’t an option, so not sure that it’s backed up.

I did make sure health was up and running in my settings on the new phone.
