How to set Cloudflare DNS in Airport Time Capsule? and How to go back to ISP DNS? Thank you!.

Hello, Please I would like to set Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) in my Airport Time Capsule. My ISP gave me a modem / router (which is in Bridge mode) and my Airport Time Capsule is my router.

I have tried changing DNS Servers as it shows in the photo attached but doesn't seem to work because when I perform a DNS lookup, it shows me my Router ip as DNS. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Please, I would also like to know how I can reverse everything and re-obtein my ISP DNS.

Could I please get same help? Thank you in advance.

You can delete the domain in your computer by using static IP you set on the computer.. you also set the DNS to whatever you like.

But DNS seems to work since I just performed DNS leak test and got Cloudflare as a result. What do you thing?

That is fine.. There is good point to using a local DNS in the computer if you are having issues finding devices on your local network but otherwise just put in the cloud flare DNS.

I use google DNS since it works just as well for me.. and from ancient history.. it has been around a lot longer than cloud flare.

Talking about IPv6 DNS Servers, is it ok to leave them empty??

If you using a full IPv6 system then you should also use IPv6 DNS.

It is best left automatic in that case.

I have IPv6 turned off in the Airport but as main router if you get a public IPv6 address then you can also transfer that IP to the computer.

You can set DNS in the Airport and it should work.

I normally have it set as follows.

I am running it double NAT.. so it is a bit different when used as the main router.

You can change them around to whatever you like.

However on the computer the Airport will always assign itself as the main DNS.

If you have a search domain which does not include local it is probably ignoring the Airport ..

Does DNS work??

Try deleting the domain on the computer so it is blank.

To reverse the setup is easy.. just open it in airport utility and change the values to whatever you like.

Remember the computer getting DNS from the airport will always get 10.0.1.1 or whatever your airport is set to dhcp range.

Thank you for your answer. Do you have Google's DNS in Primary and Cloudflare's DNS in Secondary? Can I have them like that? do they work better that way?

It is not possible to delete the domain neither in my Airport Time Capsule nor my Computer. But DNS seems to work since I just performed DNS leak test and got Cloudflare as a result. What do you thing?
