How are 36 video clips of different singers shown at the same time

Good morning. I have watched two song videos recently in which between 36 to even more than 100 singers were shown on the same screen! All the singers were not in the same location, but were singing from their own homes or different outdoor locations. I would like to know how these video clips have been placed on the screen. Are there any split screen generators that can be used in FCPX to create such videos? A screenshot is shown below for your understanding.

Hello Dr. Somanna,

You have to stack your videos on your storyline. Each clip is sized, cropped and positioned in place. In general, this is very difficult to do without additional "software" (plugins/effects/guides).

A lot of people are using tools to manage the arrangement. You might like to give this free effect a try:

https://fcpxtemplates.com/product/sc-multiscreen/

It allows you to create layouts rather simply. You can save individual layouts as Effects Presets and apply those to subsequent clips — all you need to do is change the Clip Location parameter to "position" the clip in the Viewer.

To create the diagonal edges, you can add the Shape Mask in FCPX around a clip position on the clips that are adjacent (you might have to ask about that again...)

Thanks Fox! I was thinking of your quad split screen generator that has landed freely on my system on account of your generosity! Your generosity will certainly fill you with blessings. I have seen a video of a choir of nearly 200 members singing in their homes and was mighty curious about how so many clips could be stacked upon the timeline. I was 'imagining' it to be some Zoom meeting screen grab! However, however this has been done, to have the audio in sync should be a tricky job for a video editor!

I have just been to your referred site and lapped up your generous offer/s that are now to be downloaded. I guess they need to be backdated. With a word of prayer let me convey my thanks to you from the bottom of my heart.

I can vaguely understand your teaching about having diagonal edges. I wish there is an instructional video as to how to use this multiscreen.

Good evening Fox. I have downloaded the multiscreen and clip label effects, made copies of them, and backdated the copies to FCPX version 10.4.5. But, though I find the effects in the effects browser, they aren't functional and I get this error message👇

Any further guidance in this matter will be valued.

Here is a visual representation of the installation path:

Where "Home" is your current User folder (it will have the same icon but be named your Username); and Category Label can be any name you want to have appear in the Effects list in FCPX.

Move the original version of the plugin out of the Motion Templates folder and store it somewhere to be used later. The backdated version must have the exact same file/folder names as the original.

Thanks for this reply. The backdate site had accepted the Clip label file and I was able to download Clip Label.moef.txt file that I dragged into the Clip Label folder [below, right]

The screenshot above shows the original folder contents that have been moved to an external drive while the folder contents on the right are placed in my movies/effects folders of my Macintosh HD. At this level of work progression, the effect is appearing in FCPX, but error message is being yet displayed.👇

Please let me know the next steps I need to take so that your effect becomes alive in FCPX🙏

Regards
