MacBook Pro v.s iPad Pro for Biology Major

Hi! I am going to be an incoming freshman this fall with plans to major in biology. Would a MacBook Pro or iPad Pro be more beneficial? Thank you!

If could only pick one, get a MacBook. You'll get more features from common applications like Word, Excel, Powerpoint and it is far more flexible and easier to do the basics like printing a document to running applications in option classes like statistics, math, etc. iPad is more ideal for media consumption like Netflix, email, internet, etc.

However, an MBA major might tell you to spend wisely so you can have the best of both worlds - if you're considering an iPad as your primary homework machine, you definitely don't need a MacBook Pro. Instead, buy a MacBook Air and use the difference saved to also get an iPad. Problem solved.

Buy knowing the 'end result' cannot see user upgrades.

"Future-Proof" your investment, & get AppleCare+ too.

Story has been out MacBook/Air, (similar to MB/Pro in

some build version specs) won't continue in production.

You may be able to get a good value in the Apple online

Refurbished store; they will offer an extended AppleCare

plan for additional coverage for a fee. Newer builds with

better keyboards are recommended; a difference in design.

The MacBook Pro is more robust and offers as-built upgrade

versions when you order (or happen in a Store w/ selection.)

While the iPad Pro with Keyboard kit, (wi-fi + cellular) is nice

though probably better IF you already had 13-in. MacBook Pro.

Just my penny worth of thought. Already have two MacBooks

& two Mac Minis; across big gap, in their 'build year' spectrum.

Good luck & happy trails!🌞🎣
