Final cut using masks

In Final cut when using masks ,sometimes when moving the outline I get a tracking graph that shows me where the outline is going and previous moves .

However often it doesn't appear ,that seem to be when its not logging the moves, anybody out there know how to get it to show the movement graph all the time or what im doing wrong

Thanks for your help. That has sorted out a lot of the problems that I'm having .like all self taught problem they seem simple once explained

i didnt realise that when adjusting mask you first had to add a manual key frame and from there it will make its own .The same with moving it ,again you have to manualy add the first keyframe ,and from there it registers its move path .which explains why sometimes it was there ,sometimes not

thanks

You seem to be doing three different things:

(1) changing control points and

(2) moving the mask itself

(3) moving the clip

When you drag the mask to move it, you are not changing its control points.

For example, suppose your character moves in the frame, and you want the mask to "follow".

You must twirl down the triangle next to "Transforms", and add a keyframe there.

Then when you move it, new keyframes will be added.

Oh, and if you know that are going to use a mask with control points, use a Draw Mask from the start, rather than a Shape Mask. Horses for courses...

hi have taken some screen shots ,of the graph i was talking about. They are tracking lines from where the object has been moved from last move .At first I again could not get them to appear ,then possibly by changing shot they started to appear as i moved the object around.

Also as you can see the mask doesn't not hold position when using key frames setting them ,carry on moving to keep the object in the mask . then when using back key frames it still hold the last key frame position slipping well out of line

Am still self teaching so maybe im missing something basic , like when i first started and could not find on any drop down menu on how to delete a shot
