Program keeps warning me that it doesn't have permission to open files

I have a program, Affinity Designer the keeps warning me that it doesn't have permission to open files, like a simple .jpg, or even a file created by its companion program, Affinity Photo. Since there is no longer a Repair Permissions option in Disk Utility, I'm not sure how to remedy this problem.

This is the kind of warning I get when I try to open a compatible fie:

/Users/danielleavey/Work Folder/Halliday/Nature love - 5000x2808.jpg

The file could not be opened because permission was denied.

Or

"Save failed because you do not have permission to create a file in that location.Do you wish to save the document to a new file?"

Is there a file or folder I can remove from the Library > Applications Support folder to let the program rebuild on startup?

Preview can view the files. The crazy thing is, Affinity won't even open a file created by Affinity Photo. The fact that I can't create a folder for a project and save files created in Affinity Designer is nuts. Even though I re-installed a new copy of Affinity Designer, the folks at Affinity said that probably wouldn't solve the problem.

They're working on the problem.
