When I connect my airpods to my Macbook, it shows that they are connected in the settings. However, the volume icons disappear from my touchpad, and no sound is coming through the airpods.
Has anyone had this issue?

Go to System Preferences > Sound and see if the AirPods are selected.

If you are using the Music app, click on the Airplay icon on the top right and select the AirPods.
I'm not using the music app. The sound isn't coming through on any app at all.
I can see the volume icons on my touch pad, but they're not lit up, like they're disabled?
And when I turn the bluetooth off on my mac, they light back up.
They are. When they're selected, the icons are disabled. When I select my computer as the output, they light back up.
