Time limit on Spotify

I am trying to limit the amount of time my child can spend on Spotify, but when I put a time limit, it plays beyond it. How can I fix that?

It sounds as though you're seeing that the Spotify app is able to be used beyond an app limit setup in Screen Time. You're in the right place, and we'd be glad to assist in seeking a solution.


Try these steps, testing for the issue after each step.


  • Check to see if the "Block at Downtime" / "Block at End of Limit" options for the affected member’s Downtime / App Limit settings are enabled. - Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  • Review that the affected app has not been included in the Always Allowed section of their Screen Time settings.
  • Toggle Ask to Buy (Off / On) for the affected member using the Parent/Organizer device, waiting 15-16 seconds before turning it back on. -Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy
  • Change the Screen Time passcode for the affected Child to verify the Child has not guessed the passcode.
  • If using the "Share Across Devices" feature, try disabling this feature on all devices, then test the issue again.
