speakers not working for video calls

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and can't get the sound to work for Zoom and Google Meet. There is an echo or reverb. When I leave the meeting and come back in on my old macbook the sound is fine. I've checked all the settings on both computers to make sure they're the same and it's still not working.

Hi there raisingturkeys,

Thank you choosing Apple Support Communities!

It sounds as though while in a video call using the Zoom and Google Meet apps that you're hearing an echo or a reverb. You're in the right place, and we'd be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

Are you experiencing an echo or reverb when playing other sounds on your Mac?

This resource from Zoom can help with hearing a audio echo:

We hope this helps,

Cheers!
