Old email attached to apple id

I cannot erase or restore my old Ipad, I have had it a long time and the apple Id seems to be be set to my old email address that is no longer in use. I am going round in circles and do not know what to do!

In regard to your old Apple ID, see If you forgot your Apple ID password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487

You also can use Having trouble signing in/iForgot https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid in recovering it.

And you will need to see If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201485

Before trying to answer your security questions is very important that you think about your questions, including your birth date, and their answers carefully and try to recall all details you can. If you don't answer them correctly enough, then you easily can lose control of your account.

I think your account is going to end up being disabled if you pursue matters as above. See If your Apple ID is locked or disabled https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204106

And, thus, you will need to try to recover your account. See Recover your Apple ID when you can’t reset your password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204921.

Do you have the password so you can sign out? Is there a rescue email attached to that ID?
