Apple vs Android - In-App Purchases - Tax

Hi all,

First time poster.

I am playing this app called "Puzzles and Empires" on an iPhone and Samsung Note 8.

06/26/2020 - see first image.

Device: Samsung Note 8

I purchased an in-app offer for $2.79.

Note: prior to purchase, Google stated "no tax".

After reviewing my bank charges, I was indeed charged exactly $2.79 - no concern here.

06/27/2020 - see second image.

Device: iPhone 10

I purchased an in-app offer for $2.79.

Note: prior to purchase, Apple stated the $2.79 - no mention of tax.

After reviewing my bank charges, I was charged $3.15 - $2.79 + 13% tax (Ontario, Canada sales tax).

Can anyone shed some insight on why I was charged tax on my Apple device but not my Samsung device?

I did scour the internet but the generic comments were "intangible goods and services must be taxed".

To be clear, I'm not disputing paying taxes. I am inquiring about why I am only charged taxes on certain Operating Systems.

Thank you in advance!
