Import movies on my iPad (6th Gen)

How do I import movies on my iPad (6th Gen)? I've tried dragging and dropping multiple formats (mP4, .mov, m4v), I see the plus sign as I drag it to the Movies section (on the Finder, on my iPad), but nothing happens.

On a side note, why did Apple make this, iTunes and Podcasts so much more difficult?
