MS Word for iPhone has an AutoSave feature and I am assuming that that feature was not active on your iPhone. If the document was saved at least once in the past then you can use the HISTORY feature and open the various versions of the document which will be listed in a chronological order.

If the document was never saved then you will not be able to find it on an iPhone.
