command not found

I am trying to create a bootable drive and continuing to get the error "command not found" in the terminal. I am pulling the command line directly from the apple page and using copy and paste, what am I doing incorrectly?

Are you using the exact name of your mounted USB stick as it appears on the Desktop (e.g. /Volumes/STUFF)? That Apple command-line cannot possibly know the name of your mounted USB stick until you provide it, so copy/paste will not work until you resolve that name in it.
