AVI Files

Since 2008 I have been able to open AVI files on my MacBook and since updating that is no longer possible. I've tried using VLC and just freezes. QuickTime doesn't even want to play.

I've searched online and found suggestions for downloading other software to convert the files, but there seems to be a lot of procedures to follow. When you are not so tech savvy it all looks too much.

So frustrating.

Simple and easy suggestions most welcome.

The latest VLC (v 3.0.11) works fine on Catalina 10.15.5+, and will play nearly anything, including .avi movies. If this recent version of VLC does not play your .avi, then I would suspect that the .avi is damaged.
