Text message forwarding

Hi,

I have text message forwarding turned on for my iPhone SE original on my iPhone 8.

I am able to receive SMS texts on both but not send them on the SE.

There is no SIM in the SE but apparently it should work over wifi

Please could someone shed some light on this?

Thank you

If we understand correctly, there is no SIM card in the iPhone SE. This is why you cannot send an SMS message from the iPhone SE. SMS travel over a cellular connection. The iPhone SE may be able to send iMessages which travel over an internet connection like Wi-Fi. This article will explain the difference between iMessages and SMS which you may find helpful:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that you have enabled text message forwarding from your iPhone 8 to your iPhone SE but cannot reply to messages that have been forwarded to the iPhone SE. In a situation like this, make sure that everything is set up as described in this article:

How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac - Apple Support

If everything is set up properly, what happens when you try to send a message? Do you receive an error message? If so, what is the exact error?

Hi Rina, Thank you for your reply.

That is the correct issue.

Everything is set up as in the article.

It just shows 'not delivered' the second I press send on the iPhone SE if it is an SMS but I can then manually send this from the iPhone 8. Both devices are in close proximity when testing and connected to the same WiFi network.

Please could you advise some further steps?

Thank you :)
