xr no touch even after reset

iphone xr is frozen on lock screen. already forced restarted it, still nothing... any suggestions? The screen appears to be working as notifications are coming in. I did accidentally put it in SOS mode because i clicked the power button too many times. Now when I start it up, the touch doesn't work and it says an update needs to be installed. Tried force resetting it a number of times and nothing works.
