Limiting WiFi Printer Access on Shared Network

Our two apartments use a single router for Internet access. This is a trusted friend and we have to share the WiFi/Internet.

However, my Canon printer seems to be accessible to him, which is not desired.

How do I setup the printer so that it can only be used by me? Should I discontinue using WiFi and use iCloud? Is Air Print addressable to only the person who configures it? Will turning off Printer Sharing solve it?

Does the printer driver or sharing dialog offer a password protection option?

A single network means access by everyone on it unless the specific resource, your printer, allows passwords.
