What am I doing wrong? This does not work --Reset NVRAM Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. Release the keys after about 20 seconds. This clears user settings from memory

What about it doesn’t work? Zapping the PRAM clears certain settings, not your data. The easiest way to remove all your data and settings is to reinstall the OS.


If you’re getting rid of the computer, there are other steps to consider:

Did you set a firmware password? That disables PRAM zapping. Boot into recovery mode (Command-R during startup) and turn it off.
