I managed to get someone from the apple store, the answer was surprising. Some SD cards do not invoke import on the photo app . I tried an old card and import appeared on the photo app. Apple doesn’t know the reason.
So I will need information before i buy a new card.
I have no specific info but I THINK it may have something to do with SDHC/SDXC cards. I’m basing this on I had an old card reader that would see - in my pc - an older card but would not see the SDHC card I was trying to use at the time.
that allows me to speculate that older cards work fine but probably the SDXC do not. (Now that you mention it I can import video off my old cards but not SDHC ones)
so if you can you may try that.
No, I have an ipad 6. How the photos app works is, the files need to have an 8 character name (DSC_1234.jpg for example) and must be in a folder named DCIM. This mimics how they come off a camera. You plug in the card reader, open the photos app and you see this
Tap on the import button and follow the prompts.
I have followed your instruction, and find there is no IMPORT in the photo app. As mentioned I have a iPad Pro , this years model. Is this the same year as yours? As things can vary from year to year.
Thanks for you help !
Using the same set up, through the files app I was able to navigate to the device (generic USB symbol) and then in each picture I had the option to save to the photos app. Or the only other option was to move them, but photos was not an option.
You import photos off SD cards via the photo app. OPen that up and you should see an import button
Thanks for your efforts to help me!
Yes I’ll do that for the time being , at I know the old cards work.
thanks again!!
